Visitor

First espresso machine, which bag should I start with?

Sarah

The light roast is our most interesting bag right now, I would start there.

What should have happened instead?

She sent a first-time espresso buyer to the light roast and they said it tasted sour.

Sarah drafted a guideline

For espresso newcomers, default to the medium roast: the light reads sour on their first pull.

Sarah does not arrive fully formed. You train her on how your shop answers, then keep coaching her on the floor so every shift makes her a little better.

01

The problem

A new hire learns your voice over weeks of corrections on the floor. Most storefront tools never learn at all, so the same weak answer repeats on every visit. Sarah needs a way to take your feedback and actually keep it.

02

How it works

  1. Train her before she goes live

Work through a library of 22 scenario templates, from shipping and returns to sizing, gift advice, and objection handling, or write your own. Grade and edit her answers; the ones you approve become few-shot guidance she follows.

  2. Coach her on live answers

Thumbs-up or thumbs-down any real reply and add a short correction note. Sarah proposes a brief behavioral rule based on it.

  3. Approve before anything ships

Each proposed rule passes a safety review (a regex check, an AI moderation pass, and your final confirmation) before it counts.

  4. It takes effect instantly

Once you accept a rule, it applies to every future chat right away, with no rebuild or redeploy.

03

What makes it real

Training examples only guide Sarah after you approve them, so nothing reaches a shopper unreviewed. Coaching notes are tenant-isolated, scoped to your shop and never shared across merchants, and capped per chat to keep her fast. Each accepted rule carries a "used in N chats" count so you can see what is actually working. Moderation is fail-open by design, which keeps your authority final: you decide what Sarah learns.

Gift shoppers keep asking whether we do decaf, and she sends them to the house blend.

Her guideline

When a gift shopper asks about caffeine, offer the decaf sampler before the house blend.

Loved that you led with the boxed sampler on that gift chat. Do that everywhere.

Her guideline

For gift shoppers, lead with the boxed sampler: it includes the printed brew card.

Don’t promise a ship date. We roast to order.

Her guideline

Don’t quote roast-to-ship past 3 days: route timing questions to a person.
